  A szabadság után kutatva… – Berlintől Budapestig

  A Chimera-Project soron következő “Looking for Freedom” című kiállítása 2013. május 17-től június 6-ig berlini művészeket mutat be illetve lát vendégül.
  A kiállítás két elemből építkezik: az egyik egy csoportos kiállítás, Eliot M. Henning német művész és beatbox legenda társkurátorságával válogatva. A másik pedig a berlini művész-duó, Various&Gould 10 napos mini-rezidencia programjával egybekötött kiállítása, melynek során “Wanted Witches – Witches Wanted” címmel egy bevonásra épülő installációt hoznak létre a Chimera-Project klauzál téri kiállítóterében.

• LOOKING FOR FREEDOM – FROM BERLIN TO BUDAPEST

  On May 16th at 7pm, Chimera-Project will open an exhibition with Berlin artists, entitled «Looking for Freedom» – from Berlin to Budapest.
  The exhibition on view from May 16th until June 2nd is divided in two parts: One the one side the Chimera-Project Space will show an exclusive selection of artworks curated by the German artist and beatbox legend Eliot M. Henning, whereas the second part is dedicated to the Berlin artist-duo Various&Gould. The duo will have a 10 days residency in the heart of Budapest, at Klauzál tér 5 and work on a silkscreen-based, interactive installation entitled “Wanted Witches – Witches Wanted”.

• «SOLO» – KIÁLLÍTÁS-SOROZAT A CHIMERA-PROJECTBEN
  A Chimera-Project soron következő kiállítássorozata öt egyéni kiállítást helyez egy keretbe Orosz Richárd, Füredi Tamás, Vörös Krisztián, Szabó Balázs és Stark Attila legújabb munkáinak bemutatásával. Március 29-től öt héten át minden pénteken este 7-től egy új tárlat nyílik, mely az 1000%-ként elhíresült művészkollektíva jelenleg is aktív tagjainak egyéni munkásságát mutatja be. Egy igazi művészeti maraton, ami a kaleidoszkópszerű gyors váltásokkal méginkább nyilvánvalóvá teszi az egyes pozíciók egyediségét és határait.

• «SOLO» – SHORT TERM EXHIBITION SERIES AT CHIMERA-PROJECT
  March 28th marks the beginning of a series of five short-term exhibitions at the Chimera- Project Space, dedicated to five infamous painters from Budapest: From 28th of March until 2nd of May, Stark Attila, Orosz Richárd, Füredi Tamás, Szabó Balázs and Vörös Krisztian will take control over the gallery-space – each of the artists will show their latest art «SOLO». Whithin the 5 weeks Chimera-Project will be turned into an every changing and kaleidoscopic place: five exhibition, five openings during five weeks – a true art mara- thon where the audience can meet, discuss and discover five different perspectives of young painters.

• «IS THIS REAL»
  

  2013. február 21-én este 7 órakor nyílik meg a Chimera-Project «IS THIS REAL?»című kiállítása, mely a dioráma kortárs adaptációinak szentel figyelmet, négy fiatal magyar művész, Icko Dávid, Karácsonyi László, Máriás István – Horror Pista és Szabó Eszter legújabb ill. a kiállításra készülő munkáinak bemutatásával.
  
  A Chimera-Project törekvését követve a tárlatot egy kollaboratív alkotás egészíti ki, melyben Icko, Karácsonyi és Máriás egy közös intallációval a galéria rejtett tereit fedezi fel és alakítja át.
  
  A médium a 19. századi, daguerre-i diorámából bontakozott ki, mely egy népszerű színházi látványélményként, a fényképezés és a mozgókép megjelenése előtt a világ látványhű leképezésére tett kísérletet.
  
  Az 1930-as évektől egy népszerű adaptációja honosodott meg természettudományi múzeumokban, ahol preparált állatok természeti környezetben való bemutatásának és ezáltal az edukációnak eszközévé vált. Napjainkban kortárs képzőművészeknél is találkozunk a dioráma eltérő felhasználásával: Jake és Dinos Chapman, Gregory Crewdson, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster vagy Hiroshi Sugimoto, mint a médium legismertebb protagonistái egyben szemléltetik is, ahogyan a dioráma és kifejezésnyelve változik, elmosva és újraértelmezve korábbi látványtechnikák határait, mint pl. a panoráma, peep-show vagy akár az építészeti modellezés.
  
  A kiállítás címe «Is this Real?» (Igaz ez?) a dioráma egyik legfontosabb, inherens minőségére és törekvésére utal: korlátozott térben, méretben és időben egy teljes, komplex környezet bemutatására, a valóság teremtésének kísérletére. Mind az életnagyságú, mind a miniatűr diorámáknál érvényesül ez, a médium természetében rejlő totalizáló hatás, illuzionista, lenyűgöző, de egyben megtévesztő minőség, mind a művész, mind a befogadó számára.
  
  Az «Is this Real?» kiállítás célja egyrészről az újra népszerűséget nyerő médium bemutatása négy eltérő művészeti pozíció felmutatásával.
  
  A kiállítás ugyanakkor túllép a forma és vizuális hatások kutatásán. A kiállítás keretében zajló, sokszereplős kollaboratív alkotási folyamat révén is a valóságteremtés hol játékos, hol erőszakos, ám mindenekfelett dialektikus és problematikus aktusára és ezen belül saját, befogadó szerepünkre, a megerősítés vagy megkérdőjelezés szabadságára irányítja a figyelmet: «IS THIS REAL?»

• «IS THIS REAL»
  

  «Is this Real?» the second exhibition at Chimera-Project opens its doors at the 21st of February (7pm) and presents four young Hungarian artists that pay tribute to the «Diorama» with their contemporary artistic adaptations. Icko Dávid, Karácsonyi László, Máriás István – Horror Pista and Szabó Eszter will present latest as well as new works especially made for this occasion. Following Chimera-Project’s engagement for, and interest in artistic collaborations, an on site installation will be created by Icko, Máriás and Karácsonyi.
  
  At this very moment especially a younger generation of artists in Budapest rediscovers the power of diorama. The origins of the media, invented in the early 19th century as a public spectacle, can be described as the first kind of «virtual space» the world has ever experienced. Besides its popular adaptations by museums of natural history since the 1930s, where taxidermic animals are presented behind glass within their naturally (crafted) environment, today various types of dioramas are frequently used in contemporary art as well: Jake and Dinos Chapman, Gregory Crewdson, Dominique Gonzalez-Foerster or Hiroshi Sugimoto are not only a few of the most prominent artists that work with dioramas, these positions also show us, that today the term «diorama» is elastically used and combines related media such as the peep-ahow, panorama and architecture models.
  
  The exhibition title «Is this Real?» refers to at least one very important, inherent quality of a diorama used for artistic expression: Limited to a certain space, size and moment, it enables the artist to present the viewer a entire, complex environment at one single glance. Whether in life size or as tiny models, the diorama as a media has a totalizing effect – a seductive quality for artist and viewers at the same time.
  
  «Is this Real» now invites the viewer to experience and learn about the diorama by presenting four different kind of artistic adaptations. The audience will quickly notice that the power of these works go beyond mere formal qualities and visual effects, but also confront us with a serious examination of realities we are all facing today.

Renaissance Now! Collaborative Exhibition at the new Chimera-Project Space

KOLLABORATÍV PROJEKKTEL NYIT MEG AZ ÚJ CHIMERA-PROJECT SPACE
A Chimera-Project Renaissance – Now! rendezvényével 2012. dec. 6-13 között a Klauzál téri galéria téri adottságait tematizálja egy kollaboratív projekt keretében: a galéria tereinek újraértelmezéséhez négy művészt hív meg, akik karakteres formavilágukon keresztül a térben bontják ki saját festészeti pozíciójukat.

A két magyar, Baranyai András és Orosz Richárd és két svájci művész Remo Lienhard és Onur Dinc jól értik a falak nyelvét. Számos európai nagyváros közterein, ill. galériákban a legkülönfélébb médiumokon keresztül bontották ki sajátos szimbólumvilágukat és exponálták rendszerkritikus üzeneteiket. Remo-t a budapesti közönség a Schwarzmaler 15er csoport tagjaként már megismerhette 2010-ben, az Artacks svájci galéria bemutatóján, a régi gozsdu udvari Telepen.
A kiállítás nem korlátozódik a műalkotásra, az alkotás és befogadás folyamatát is górcső alá helyezi, amennyiben az akció dec. 6 és 13-a között folyamatosan látogatható, majd a dec. 13-ig megnyitót követően a kis reprodukciók keretében a látogatók számára is megszerezhető.

THE INAUGURAL EXHIBITION OF THE NEW CHIMERA-PROJECT SPACE

1000% – Reclaiming Budapest Since 2002 | the 1000% retrospective exhibition in Berlin
1000% GOES TO THE BEAR! Attila Stark, Richard Orosz, Tamas Füredi, Balazs Szabo and Krisztian Vörös took over the Neurotitan Gallery and realized their first major solo-exhibition in abroad. The exhibition «Reclaim Budapest – Since 2002» is set up as “retrospective” and introduces 10 years of artistic work of the collective. Artworks done on the street and for the exhibition space are on display! Moreover F39, Kulo, Lobot, Piros & Torz&Merev also present their latest paintings and objects and a special edition of prints!

This exhibition set the stage for some of the best known urban artists in Budapest: the 1000% collective. According to the authors of «Street Marking in Hungary» Attila Stark, Richard Orosz, Tamas Füredi, Balazs Szabo and Krisztian Vörös (together with others…) were the first seriously acting street art group in Budapest. The exhibition «10’000% – since 2002» presented by Chimera-Project honors and highlights the work and development of the collective since 2002.

Within more than 10 years 1000% literally achieved what street art always demands – to «reclaim the streets». Although in case of 1000% and Budapest, Street Art was only one creative channel of expression in the wide repertoire of the group. Since 2002 the creative output always performed with 1000 percent style literally covers the city of Budapest and confronts people in their everyday lives: From fine art, exhibited in bars, galleries, the Mücsarnok and other art institutions; over commissioned or illegal works for public & private spaces, festivals and events, to graphic design applied on posters,fanzines and flyers for cultural places and the club scene – 1000% simultaneously operates in various contexts and loves to perform the balancing act between the two fields of fine art and (graphic) design. In this sense 1000% define «urban art» as a crossover of disciplines. On the one side this schizophrenic approach reflects a typical attitude of urban art in general. On the other hand the use of multiple channels renders the work of 1000% more complex, so that it easily conquer this «urban cage». The exhibition «10’000% – since 2002» honours their oeuvre and surrounds the audience with kaleidoscope-like setting of different works represented by various media – a place to dive into , discover and think about urban art made in Budapest by 1000%.
